USA Gymnastics
Officials Requirements
 |
Be a USAG
Professional member in good standing and Safety
Certified. |
 |
Have
your USAG Professional Membership
Card in your possession
when
officiating at sanctioned USAG Competitions. |
 |
Have
your resume on file and keep it updated. |
 |
Return
your availability forms by the deadline date. |
 |
Your CPE must
be
maintained at the required levels set forth by USAG according to the level
of the competition you are judging. |
 |
You
no longer have to judge a sectional
competition to be considered for a State Championship
Competition. |
 |
The State
Championship
Judging Selection
is done through a full Professional Membership Vote prior to each season.
This selection process is conducted by the State Board. |
USA
Gymnastic Official Responsibilities
 |
Perform your function as a judge of the Meet according to the USA Gymnastics
Rules and policies, member ship policies and the USA gymnastics Code of
Ethics. |
 | Individual
judges shall be limited to judging, evaluating and scoring the competition. |
 | You are bound
by the terms of the individual contract agreed upon for that particular event |
 | Judges are
responsible, according to all appropriate laws and jurisdiction, for all
financial reporting and identification of payments / reimbursements received
to the appropriate agencies (IRS) |
 | Sign and
return the contract to the Meet Director and the assignor (not
necessary in NYS for sectional or State Championships) |
 |
If a
Sanction
Violation
occurs at the competitive event you are officiating at, this violation must be brought to the attention of the Meet Director. If the
violation is not corrected
according
to the R&P it must be noted on the
sanction form. |
 |
Failure
to adhere
to the above rules, USAG contract or anything jeopardizing the competition
or gymnasts can lead to a suspension of your judging privileges in the State
of New York. |
Considerations
 | Report time is 30 minutes
prior to march-in for local and invitational competitions, unless otherwise
specified by the Meet Referee. |
 | Competitions requiring
video analysis, officials report time can be 1 hour prior to March-in. In NYS
the Meet Referee determines the use of a video analysis or not for our State
Championships and sets the report time for officials. |
 | $5.00 fine for any
official not reporting in on time. |
 | Fees are paid based upon
the contracted march-in time and concludes when all officials submit their
scores. Judges are responsible to check each individual gymnasts score /
average at the time of submission, not the official computer print out. |
 | A portion of the hourly
fee may be broken into halves, not less. Round off to the nearest half hour. |
 | If the competition resumes
before the maximum allotted break time has elapsed, the judging time begins
again. |
 | USAG
Certified Meet Directors
have the right
negotiate
this contract providing it
is not in violation of any USAG Rules for competition. |
 | The USAG Official
has the right
to accept or decline the Meet Directors offer to judge the USAG sanctioned
competition. |
 | Judging
Assignments are handled by a
USAG Judging Assignor. |
