Level 5 Program
Level 5 Competitive
is segment
two in our competitive program. The levels is progressive in nature,
building upon the skills required in the previous level. Competitive
opportunities are provided up to and including USA Gymnastics State Championship. Competition Seasons: There
are two separate seasons for Level 5 gymnasts. The early season
that runs from October to the Early Season State Championship and the late season that
runs from February to the June.
Gymnasts may compete in both level 5 State Championships in the same
season or two in the early season Level 5, then the Level 6 state
Championship, if qualified.
USAG New York
State Qualifying Competitions and Scores
Local competitions qualify gymnasts to a sectional state qualifying meet.
 | All USAG New York State gymnasts begin their competition on the local level |
 | There are no qualification scores to enter any sanctioned USAG local
competition. |
 | The gymnasts must
meet the mobility requirement to enter a level 5 USAG
sanctioned local competition. |
 | Gymnasts do not
have to compete on all 4 events at the local level |
Sectional competition qualify gymnasts to their State Championship
 | The qualification
score to enter a USAG sanctioned Level 5 sectional from a local competition is
30.00 All Around
for the Early Season and 30.50 All Around for the late season.

 | The
qualification score must be attained once in any USAG sanctioned local
competition or any NYS recognized State Qualifying Invitational Competition. |
 | Automatic
Qualification: Any gymnast who qualified to the previous years State
Championship and has not changed their level of competition automatically
qualifies to the sanctioned sectional competition without competing on the
local level. |
State Championships
 | The qualification score to enter the USAG NYS Level 5 State
Championship from the sectional or State Qualifying Invitational is
32.00 All Around for the Early Season Level 5 State
Championship

All Around for the Late Season Level 5 State
Championship

 | The score must be attained once in a USAG sanctioned
sectional competition or from a NYS recognized State Qualifying Invitational. |
 | Automatic
Qualification: Any gymnast who competes in any of the recognized New
York State Qualifying Invitational and attains the State Championship
Qualification Score automatically qualifies to the State Championship without
competing on the local level. |
 | Gymnasts
have three chances in qualifying to the NYS State Championship from
either a sectional or State Qualifying Invitational Competitions. FYI: State
Qualifying Invitational Competitions count as local competitions if the
gymnast does not attain the State Championship Qualification score. |
 | Competition
Seasons: There are two separate seasons for USAG NYS Level 5

Championship and the late season that runs from February to the Level

Championship Procedures
 | Individual and
all around champions are recognized at all NYS State Championships |
 | Team Champions
are recognized based on the top 5 individual scores from each of the 4
Olympic Events, regardless of age divisions. The Team recognition is
done at the end of the entire State Championship (last day, last session). |
 | Awards are based
on the recognized NYS Age divisions |
 | Scores are
flashed and posted in the concession area at each State Championship. Scores
posted and flashed are not official. The scores verified by the score team
and Officials are. |
 | At the conclusion
of each competitive session each competitor receives a New York State "Champions
Medal" for being the champions that they are. |
 | All scores will
be posted on the New York State Web Page 48-72 hours after the competition |
 | Gymnasts are
allowed to be in two State Championships per year, on the same or different
levels of competition. |
Age Divisions for
Level 5
Level 5 gymnasts must be 7 years old the
day they compete
The New York State Age Divisions are:
7-9 year olds, 10, 11 year olds, 12 & Over
The State Chair will use single age divisions when necessary to prevent
triple age group sessions OR create a "veterans division" and a "rookie
Division". Rookies being first time Level 5 State Qualifiers, Veterans being
second year or longer. These two sub-divisions will be for the Late Season Level
5 State Championship.
NYS Awards

Sectional and State Competition Medals are based on the number of competitors per age division. |
 | Local and
Invitational Meet Directors select their own awards and the number of
placement of awards to be given out as well as age and competition divisions.

Competition Organization
Gymnasts are organized by age divisions for two or more session
competitions. Local and sectional Meet Directors have the option to group
gymnasts by either age divisions or teams.
Equipment.
All equipment used must meet the specifications of the USAG. The
equipment specifications are explained in the USAG Rules and Policy Book that
all Professional Members receive.
