New York State Level 4 Team Cup Program  

Level 4 is a developmental level. In New York State, it is a competitive achievement-oriented program.  On the local and Invitational Competitions the Meet Director determines how the Level 4 competition will be run. The Meet Directors will determine what type and how the achievement awards (or any other type of award) will be given. The culminating competition is the New York State Team Cup. There are two Team Cups; an Upstate and Downstate Team Cup Competition. The Team Cup is exactly that, a Team Competition with NO INDIVIDUAL EVENTS NOR ALL AROUND AWARDS. Every athlete receives a trophy for participating with their "team" in this "Team Competition". The only awards that are given out are Team Placements.

The Level 4 season can begin as early as October and the Team Cup is held in June.
 
USAG New York State Level 4 Qualifying Procedures
The only requirement in attending the USAG New York Team Cup is the gymnast participate in a sectional or invitational sanctioned USAG competition and scores a proficiency score of 28.00.

• There are no qualification scores to enter any sanctioned USAG competitions for Level 4. 
• The gymnasts must meet the mobility requirement to enter a level 5 USAG sanctioned local competition. 
• Gymnasts do not have to compete on all 4 events at any sanctioned meet, including the Team Cup.

Sectional Competition.
Level 4 gymnasts may enter a sectional competition. The State hosts sectional competitions for Level 4 and many of the State Invitational Competitions host Level 4 competitions.

Team Cup

• Proficiency score to enter the USAG NYS Level 4 Team Cup is 28.00AA
• The score must be attained once in a USAG sanctioned competition or from a NYS recognized State Qualifying Invitational.

Team Cup Procedures

• NO Individual nor all around medals are awarded
• Coaches create their own team lineups and present their lineups to the officials at each event.
• Only Team Champions are recognized based on the size of the team (small, large, mega) and the top  individual scores from each of the 4 Olympic Events, regardless of age divisions is counted. The number of scores used are determined prior to the Team Cup. The Team recognition is done at the end of the Team Competition.
• No Scores are flashed. Scores are posted in the concession area at each Team Cup.
• All scores will be posted on the New York State Web Page 48-72 hours after the competition
• Gymnasts are allowed to be in two State Championships per year, on the same or different levels of competition.

Age Divisions for Level 4 . Level 4 gymnasts must be 6 years old.
Because Level 4 is an Achievement Award Level,  age divisions do not have to be used. The gymnasts are grouped by team and compete together in the same squad. This makes their experience a positive one.
