New York State
Judging Assignments & Contract
From: Paul Spadaro: Although there
has been a change to the judging certification process and the "new" position of USAG
CPE, the organizational procedures for judging assignments have not
changed. The State of New York is using the same personnel to
conduct the
procedures of assignments and USAG CPE credits. The major difference is
that the USAG has development procedures that the State Chair must follow.
This page, which has been used for the passed 5 years by NAWGJ
assignors is now
mandatory for all assignors. This will enable the membership
(Coaches, Meet Directors & Officials) to know who they are having to officiate and
our officials know exactly what the competition is about. I have told both NAWGJ State Directors, this page
can be used for any and all assignments,
as it has been in the past. My responsibility as State Chair, is to the USAG and YOU the membership. The wheel does not have to be re-invented but at
times a newer model is developed.
Clarification:
The only membership required to judge a USAG sanctioned competition
is a USAG Professional Membership. Our USAG/NAWGJ Assignors choose
Officials who are listed on the USAG list sent to the Judging Directors
and CPE Co-ordinators..
Please understand per the Rules and Policies that:
-
Meet Directors, on any level,
except sectional competitions, the
SC's request/requirement is that the officials closest to the event have
the opportunity to judge the competition that is in their "backyard".
Meet Directors may request specific judges when they submit a "request for Judges"
form to the approved contractor, if those officials are not available
the contractor must inform the Meet Director.
-
Meet Directors have the right to hire there own officials.
-
Meet
Hosts of Invitational Competitions or any meets that are not under
the organizational jurisdiction of the State may use a state approved
contractor or may contract the officials using a USAG Gymnastics
Contract directly.
-
Rotation of Officials is not required
-
Holding a specific rating does not insure a judging assignment. Once the
availability of judges has been established, the assignors must consider:
(1) requests by the Meet Director for specific judges or specific ratings,
(2) the minimum rating required to judge the specific meet, (3)
Geographical location of the meet,
(4) assignors should attempt to assign
all judges to a minimum of three competitions per year

USAG Assignment of New York State Officials to Sanctioned Competitionsthis is an excerpt for the USAG Rules & Policies
The State Chair has not changed any personnel in the assignment
process. There is no reason to re-invent the wheel but here is what is
new:
-
Name designation: The "contractors/assignors" are now "USAG
Contractors/Assignors" who can be appointed by the Chair but have not
been. The selection of assignors has not changed, although there is a
difference between the process for upstate
and downstate.
-
The
New York State Web Site
www.newyorkstategymnastics.com / USAG Assignment Page will post
all USAG sanctioned competitions with the respective judging assignments
(name, event, meet referee). This is for transparency for both the
Officials and Meet Directors. Many Officials and Meet Directors have
e-mailed the State Chair with questions pertaining to assignments.
Questions I could not answer. The use of our web site will help answer
many of the questions for both the officials
and the Meet Directors.
-
The
Officials Contract
must be filled out and submitted to the assignor on or off-line.
This is something we have done on a limited basis over the passed four
years.
and submit it
automatically or print it out and fax it to the assignor. The on-line
contract goes only to the USAG Assignors.
-
The
USAG Gymnastics Judges Compensation package will be used by the State of
New York for sectional and State Championships.
